1.)  The patient is never an interruption to your work!
The patient is the real reason you are in business.  Chores can wait.


2)  Greet every patient with a friendly smile!
Patients are people.  They like friendly contact.  They’ll usually return it.

3)  Call patients by name!
Make a game of learning patients’ names.  See how many you can remember.  This is a valuable habit.

4)  Remember, you are the company!
 In the patient’s eyes you are as important as the president of your company...probably even more so.

5)  Never argue with patients!
Patients are always right in their own eyes.  Agree with them where you can, and then do what you can to make them happy.

6)  Never say, “I don’t know!”
If you don’t know what the answer is to a patient’s question, say, “That’s a good question.  Let me see if I can find out for you.”

7)  Remember, the patient pays your wages!
Every dollar you earn comes from the patient’s pocket.  Treat them like the boss.  They sign your paycheck!

8)  State things in a positive way!
Choose positive words when speaking to a customer. This is a valuable habit that will help you become an effective communicator.

9)  Brighten every patient’s day!
Do something or say something that brings a little sunshine into each patient’s life.  Soon you will discover that your own life is brighter and happier!

10)  Always go the extra mile!

Always do just a little more than the patient expects.  You will be richly rewarded for this habit.

HAVE A STRONG PROCEDURE-BASED PRACTICE.  Create an efficient clinic by streamlining your office procedures, cross training your staff, using scripts, etc…

IMPROVE YOUR MANAGEMENT SKILLS.  Learn not only to be a good doctor, but learn to have great management skills.
